IT IS FINISHED!

ROMANS 3.19-26

Jesus bore our sins on the cross.

 

He Himself bore our sins in His body on the cross, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness;

by His wounds you have been healed.

1 Peter 2.24

 

All the  sins of the world, past present and future, all the sins of all people everywhere of every nation and generation were gathered together and placed "upon Him."

 

All Man's sinfulness, from the mildest and meekest, to the most malicious, cruel and hateful, were gathered and distilled into one most virulent serum and injected into His body and soul.

 

All the badness, all the pain, all the suffering all mankind ever has or ever will experience was injected into Him, body and soul.

All the badness and all the consequences of man's inhumanity to man was in that injection.

 

At the moment of that injection, Jesus cried out,

 

 "My God! My God! Why have You rejected Me!?"

 

And He died.

 

With His last breath, He said,

"It Is FINISHED!"

 

In one brief moment of agony, beyond human endurance and imagination, Jesus extinguished sin and death from His kingdom for ever and ever.
