PSALM
57--REFUGE IN SHADOW
This is the prayer I
opened up from Psalm 57.
57.1 says exactly
what I need--
Have mercy on me, for in You I take refuge.
I will take refuge in the shadow of Your wings until
the disaster has passed.
Cf. Psalms 25,
26,+++
"Refuge"--the
place I go when the bottom has and/or is dropping out.
Here I find
something new about God.
I cry out to God.
- I come to refuge.
- I cry out to God.
- He sends from Heaven--love and faithfulness.
My trouble is like
lions, ravenous beasts, men with teeth like spears arrows, tongues like sharp
swords.
When I run into a
refuge to cry out, the exalted God of Glory, Who is over all the earth, reaches
from the heavens and across the earth to bring His glorious love and
faithfulness to me in the night watches so that I awake to new mercies.
These are new
mercies I had never knew existed.
They are
exceedingly, abundantly above all I could ever know or ask for,
great
and mighty things I never knew existed.
They are given to me
in the face of an exceedingly malicious evil beyond any man's comprehension.
The evil is great.
The love and
faithfulness are exceedingly, abundantly above the evil.
This love is
steadfast, unmovable, unshakeable.
This love comes to
me in my refuge.
This love makes me
strong, steadfast, unmovable.
I will arise before
the dawn that I may know more of such glory, grace, and goodness.
I will sing and
praise the God Who comes to me in the place He has put me among the nations.
He is and ever will
be exalted in gloriousness above all the heavens and earth.
This glorious and
exalted God is with me here, now, and forever.
With eternal love
and joy, for you
With prayer for
peace and comfort, for you
With gratitude and
thanksgiving, for you
